Byssa is a beautiful 5 gaited mare from a top stallion, Hlynur fra Kjarnholtum who is/was the 2005 Five Gait World Champion. Byssa has one of the highest ridden ability scores of any horse currently in the US having ridden to 8.59. She has earned a first prize for both Confirmation and Ridden Abilities with only 1 score under 8.0. She scored 9 for walk, pace, and spirit along with 8.5 for General Impression.

In 2005, Eidfaxi listed Byssa as one of the top ten mares in Iceland in her age group. This was before she received even higher scores at the NEIHC evaluation.
